The Magic of Moschino and Oribe

A couple of years ago, I was treated to an inspiring fashion show for Moschino, thanks to Oribe's team. It wasn't all play as I had to document the behind the scenes action for Cos Bar's blog at the time. (Who's kidding, it was fun!) The high fashion mecca took over the Los Angeles Equestrian Center and flipped it upside down into a circus wonderland. The creativity was pouring out from the circus tent seams. While there was plenty of action outside the big tent, there was also insane energy occurring backstage. With camera in hand, I dove straight in to document the beauty of Mr. Oribe in action. Indeed a master of his craft, he was in the creative flow. It was awe-inspiring. To compare it, it's like Neo in the Matrix when he finally becomes the One. Seriously.

Sadly Oribe Canales passed away shortly after this event. He was a talented soul that was taken away too soon. His gift is a potent reminder to dive into your passion and take it to levels you only dream about. (Guess what? It's totally achievable!) To recap the event, I'm sharing my top favorite photos and highlights from that night. I'm beyond grateful to Oribe for sharing this opportunity with me. The brand itself is an incredible group of people that I enjoyed working with. If you haven't tried their products, don't wait too much longer. They're worth every penny.

Here are my top 5 favorites:

1. The entire event was fantastic! Being backstage with Mr. Oribe himself was the BIGGEST highlight of the night. Seeing a master of his craft in action, Oribe was in the flow and creating magic. With tons of models jumping in and out of the chair, he didn't miss a beat.

2. Wigs GALORE! Every color you could imagine, from glittery blue to rainbow sherbert, it was hard to resist testing these out. As you can see in the photos below. My alter ego had to be on lockdown, so I didn't get kicked out for nabbing the tinsel wig! ;P

3. Confession: I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers. What does that have to do with the event? Well, Mr. Kiedis was there for the show. The guy hasn't aged one bit. Still looks amazing. As someone who isn't usually hit with the celebrity bug, my younger self did a 180.

4. Clowns. Now, usually, I would HATE clowns, but these were pretty magical. Check out the little umbrella. I accidentally went out the wrong door and caught them on unicycles cruising the parking lot. One of the great, memorable mistakes!

5. Last but not least, fashion! The majority of the guests were decked head to toe in Moschino. There was a mix of influencers, celebrities, fashion icons, and Angelenos dressed to impressed. I love people watching as it always inspires some creative projects, so this was pure gold. I tried to not be evident with my staring and picture taking but at one point, I was like, So what? Isn't that what I'm here to do?

Los Angeles doesn't host many high fashion shows, but this one was pure magic. Moschino always creates something that is beyond ordinary. Their playfulness and touch of the weird is the perfect formula for creative uniqueness. I can't help but fall in love with their vibe over and over again. This experience was one of the books!
